So... I cut off a nice chunk of tartan and mailed it and the straps to Barb for my next kilt. In the mean time, my wife decided to get a head start on this one and make herself a skirt over the weekend. This one is from a lengthened version of a pattern from the 1980s using four big pleats with gussets set in behind them. It came out very elegant. Next will be a matching short tartan jacket to go with it, and I've suggested another as well, maybe from some sort of black, charcoal, or navy velvet.
