Would a "hire mentality" be a PC, 1 of 4 available tartans, black bow tie and a plain sporran with white hose?

and ghillie brogues--------- and plaid------------and a do it all(semi dress?) and actually not plain but distinctly unexciting sporran------------and if not a black bow tie, a ruche tie.

So you are floating between schools of thought in a way and that is absolutely fine if that is your choice. What my observations do , I hope, is illustrate that there often appears to be a noticeable diverging of thought between one side of the Atlantic and the other, from a traditional point of view.

That is very kind of you, sir. August is a time when my family and friends are rather busy chasing things that swim, run or fly, so I am sure that you will have a great time without me.

You seem to have local knowledge too which is great, but I do seriously suggest that you study traditional "local form" as opposed to the "local" hire company version of it and the trans-Atlantic version of it. You are, as they say, right slap bang in the "lions den" so to speak and I am quite sure that you don't intend to be lunch!

    How it turned out

I went PC, no rouch tie, regular, white on white.

Edit: I know kilt looks long, my braces had just come loose and it began to sag a bit right before this group of pictures.
