So perhaps out of desperation, they're are just grateful for anyone who volunteers to set up the booth and some of those people may know very little about the plight of the wildcats. On the Clan Mackintosh of North America Facebook page, the Scottish Wildcat is discussed frequently and there are a lot of clan members who care deeply about the wildcat. I would hope that those clan members would show more interest in the tartan but I could be wrong. I'll see what I can do to drum up more interest among the clan members.
Well, to their credit, our local Nor Cal MacKintosh conveners have been great about it. Also, the woman in that couple offered an explanation for the Nor Cal Clans Chattan ladies that very much echoes what you just wrote.

The wildcat tartan is a beautiful one but the Clan Chattan already has so many beautiful tartans to choose from.
I'm sure that everything you wrote is absolutely true and accurate.
I'm only writing about my personal reception at the Clans Chattan tents at two California Highland Games. My reception at those tents was so eerily indifferent, almost "comatose" to be honest, that I did not pursue it further.
I do not think that the response of approximately 7 presumed Clan members active in two tents in California is in necessarily indicative of the "official, overall" Clan response to this tartan, should there in fact ever be one. Finally, I fully understand that just because it's a Wildcat Tartan does not obligate anybody in Clans Chattan to care two hoots about it. I would hope that they would, but of course they are not obligated to.

Wow. That's sad. If a Scottish Wildcat kilt pin does become available, then I'd buy it.
