    Glasgow District Kilt

I'm searching for a photo of a kilt in the Glasgow District tartan. I have been trying to decide on a tartan for my first kilt, and having family from Glasgow, it's towards the top of my list. I can't find a single picture of a completed kilt or even a pleated picture online though. Any direction on where to look would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not the least bit surprised that you can't find a picture, it's a relatively unusual tartan and often woven incorrectly. In its original Wilsons of Bannockburn shades it's a beautiful pattern.

I did a Google search based on Wilsons of Bannockburn and found this page. Is it possible that the fifth photo down (the kilt check photo) is a Glasgow District?

I sent a message to the author of the article to ask, but I'm not sure if I'll hear back with the article being a few years old.

No it's not, #5 is MacQuarrie.

I've woven the Glasgow sett in Wilsons' shades once. I will dig out the sample but it will be tomorrow before I can post it on here.

Thank you. That would be very helpful. I'm leaning towards buying a USAK casual for my first kilt, so it's just a matter of deciding if the Glasgow tartan is the one.

That is beautiful! Thank you for taking the time to post it. I think I will purchase my first kilt in the Glasgow tartan, and I'll post pictures when I do. I recently found a MacKeral connection on my father's side, so I may eventually pursue a MacDonald kilt as well.

    Peter,

Is this Wilson's purple or dark blue?

David, it's their purple per the 1819 count. The red is what I believe is their madder rather than the more widely used scarlet.

Thanks. Do you mind sharing the sett size?
