If I attend a formal or "dressy" event, I frequently wear a kilt and the appropriate accessories. I certainly don't wear a kilt every day, but I look forward to Scottish themed events, of which there may be 6-10 in this area. To those I'll wear whatever level of casualness is indicated by the event or the weather. (This is Texas and it is often HOT.) I prefer to wear a tartan kilt as it is more compatible with the Scottish connection I'm suggesting.

Another section here well worth exploring, go to; "The Traditional Kilt Section" and look at the first thread, there are a whole assortment of pictures there that work through all the dress stages. At this stage of your kilt wearing life, it matters not which section the pictures reside, what you need is ideas. Good luck!

Your outfit looks fine (to me). Others will disagree, I'm sure, but that is the way I often dress - for total comfort.

I kilt up at the casual level probably 95% of the time and I kilt up several times a week. Right now I've got on flip-flops and a polo with one of my UT Kilts (olive color). I'm working at home but I have also gone out on a few errands today. The only time I "dress up" is for a [more] formal gathering such as a St. Georges Society meeting or "formal night" on a cruise.

Here's a shot of me on the beach with an AmeriKilt. It was late November and the sand was too cold for flips.
