Saffron Kilt
Hey all
It is fairly easy to find a saffron kilt but for the life of me I can not find one with the 3 shamrock patches , like the Irish SA regiment kilt.
Does any one know where I could find one ?
Thanks

Like the pipers of The Royal Irish Rangers?
They would be extremely easy to make: cut the shapes out of green felt and sew them on.

Well I suppose if you must. But the professionally made ones would be made exactly like homemade ones: cut out of a piece of green felt.
I myself don't hesitate to take on simple projects like that. I made my own kilt ribbons and drone ribbons for my Black Watch piper's uniform.
Those shamrocks would be easy peasy. One piece of felt, one pair of scissors, 15 minutes max.
Sewing them on would take time and care, to have them perfectly aligned, and not get the fabric of the kilt bunched up. But again not rocket science, it would take a half hour or so.
Simple stuff compared to the 9 different pieces of fabric and felt I had to sew onto each arm of my replica WWII Battle Dress jacket.
In process
Finished. You can also see the kilt ribbons I made.

That's great , but I do not want to sew anything myself.
It is fairly obvious that cutting out a simple shamrock is a simple task....Again my question was simply where can I buy that kilt, but it's cool to see that you fabricate a lot stuff, maybe you can do it for me since it's so easy lol

Those of us that tinker (have made my own sgains, sporrans, flashes) encourage others to try their hand at such endeavors. The, "I made this" pride factor is what OC is trying to encourage in you. Keep looking and I expect you will find the prize.

Thing is, both my Royal Stewart kilt (in the heavy MOD weight tartan) with those ribbons, and your Royal Irish Rangers piper's kilt with the shamrocks, are rare things.
I'm guessing that the Royal Irish Rangers have around a dozen pipers in the band. Add to that the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment, the South African Irish Regiment, and the British Columbia Irish Regiment, which wear that style, and still the world total of kilts like that being worn is small.
I watch kilt-related stuff on Ebay regularly, and I may have come across only one of those RAR kilts in over a decade of looking. And if one does come up most likely it will be for a very slender young man.
The other possibility is to find the specific tailors who make these kilts for the respective regiments. (Dave Gallagher might be the one to ask.)
So the DIY thing is often more out of necessity than preference. For my Black Watch Royal Stewart piper's kilt with the ribbons, there would only be two in the regiment, worn by the Pipe Major and the Pipe Sergeant. One in my size might never exist in the first place, much less come up for sale.

You might try your local Jr. high school's Home Economics class ... if such things still exist. Surely there will be a 10-12 year old willing to cut out some shamrocks and hand-sew them to your kilt for $30 or so.
Heck, I'll do it for $375. Peanuts! LOL

I hate to undercut you, but I'll put in a bid for $100
Decent pay for less than an hour's work.
