Roots of Stone
A gift (it came with a question about recommendation)) from a friend, Roots of Stone's fly-leaf says it is a 'passionate tapestry, weaving more than 2000 years of Scottish history with a true family story stretching over those same two millennia....'
I suppose that sets the tone for you. I loved Hugh G Allison's writing style and accepted much of his research as thorough. Sadly, his editors permitted him to stretch credibility to the limit and then permitted their own folk to write the above and more as advertising copy.
Despite that down-at-the-mouth review, I suggest this book for those of you in the diaspora deeply connected to your roots in Scotland. Another take. Slainte.
