    The Defenders

I had an amusing incident happen not too long ago. My wife and I were waiting at the Los Corrales restaurant in Show Low to eat. I was wearing my UT Kilts utility kilt if I remember right. At any rate, a friend and his wife came up to the waiting area where we were. He is a pastor at Calvary Chapel where we attended before moving to a fellowship closer to where we live. Anyhow, he is kind of a jokester and made a smart remark about my "skirt". I knew he was joshing, but another guy and his wife who were there also, whom I did not know from Adam jumped right in and exclaimed, "It's a KILT, not a skirt!" - not realizing that my pastor friend was just joking. Woah.... I had to explain the situation that my pastor was NOT making fun of me, but we knew each other and it was all in fun.

I was surprised how someone I did not even know would jump right in to defend my kilt like that. I also had the same thing happen when we were walking and we passed some kids playing on the street, and one of the girls said, "that man is wearing a dress", and instantly one of the boys shot back, "It's a kilt, not a dress!" Defenders.... don't you love 'em?

Been wearing my kilts all summer, essentially replacing my short pants with them. If I would normally wear short pants, I now wear a utility kilt. At one point I was nervous about it, but now I hardly give it a thought. But I am ready with the "no, no, yes". No, I don't play the pipes. No I don't go commando. Yes, I am half Scottish. Questions answered".

Not looking forward to winter, though....

I often qualify my answer to playing the pipes with ... "And you don't want me to try and play them either" At any rate, I think it's darned respectable someone stepped in like that.

When the temperature starts to drop "do you play the pipes?" will be replaced with "aren't you cold?". That starts when the temperature hits the 50's (10C)
