Halifax, Nova Scotia
The closest I'm going to get to Scotland for awhile ... And apart from the Stone Mountain, GA games ... Will be New Scotland (some calls it Nova Scotia). Halifax is the last port of call for an upcoming New England/Canada cruise.
Does anyone have any must see shops in town that I should have a look in on? I expect most of the shops are of the tourist trap variety, so I'm on the lookout for anything special that I should be aware of in town that I'd be sorry to have missed.
Cheers

The only Scot shop is the Plaid Place http://www.plaidplace.com/.
Time dependant, of course, but my list is: enjoy the waterfront, the maritime museum, pier 21 (and Garrison brewer), Keiths brewery (historic), Government House (though tours only Jul-Aug) - a graveyard with many Titanic victims is nearby, many historic buildings/churches - storied of Halifax explosion, and of course the Citadel.
and..as its NS...wear the kilt!!

I believe L&M Highland Outfitters are also in Dartmouth, just across the bridge.

Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove are worth seeing as is the Maritime Museum in Halifax.

Lots of great bars in Halifax, many of them with live music.

We're on Disney, but I'll be kilted so perhaps well spot each other.

I plan to visit the Old Triangle, which was recommended to me while I was in Dublin last year.
