    exotic sock colour-names

I know it's a fashion thing, to come up with exotic cool-sounding names for paint colours, clothes colours, and so forth.

As an artist, it strikes me as absurd, and a bit annoying. Many colours have widely understood names, why not use them? To me being clear is better than sounding hip.

This is what I'm talking about, these shooting socks.

You have the choice of the following colours: Rusticana, Rembrandt, Petrel, Cobblestone, and Tudor... what on earth are those supposed to mean? "Tudor" is a colour, really?

I agree completely! As a colorblind person, I get extremely frustrated with color descriptions that aren't colors.

The Tudor rose was red AND white, so really a Tudor sock should be pink or Diced....

    Confusion

The thing that confuses me is that they have six photos, but only five colors listed, making me wonder which is which!

    Interesting colors though.

I recently purchased two pair of garter ties from the same manufacturer, one pair in petrol and the other in marzipan. Unfortunately neither pair are even close to the colour shown on the vendors website and with the names as such one cannot be sure. For example the marzipan set of garter ties appears almost canary yellow on the website, they are in reality a rather blah beige colour.
I will use them but the search continues for both a navy and bright yellow pair.

The person who knits these and sells them on eBay makes a bright yellow version (called gold) and often has them listed. Good stuff.

You can just see them in this photo:

I've bought from the same vendor on Etsy. Quality work!
