    Summer Overview

Well, summer is over and I can count on one hand, maybe 2 fingers how many times I wore short pants during the last 6 months. My kilts have essentially replaced my cargo shorts. The kilt experience has been great! I remember the first time I ventured out into my front yard with a utility kilt on to do yard work, and I was realllly nervous, but now I go out kilted without any such trepidation. Generally speaking, I wear long pants when I go to work, and ditch them when I get home, kilting up for a walk with my wife, Elsa. I keep the kilt on even going to Bible studies and prayer meetings after our walks.

In the evening I throw on a Sport Kilt to bop around the house. I have to wear Levis to work; no kilts or shorts allowed there due to fact that it is a power plant, industrial type setting; the safety factor. Besides, 'tis uncool to climb grated stairs and catwalks when people below can... uh... look up.

I am finding that kilts do pretty good even when it is chilly out, PROVIDED THERE IS NO WIND. Here it is, October and I am still wearing the puppies. Recently went on a rock hunting trip near Luna, NM wearing a UT Kilt and it was great, though a bit nippy outside in the morning.

Any remarks from others during this time frame have been positive in nature, or curious questioning. Nothing nasty or off color.

The only downside for me is the attention, which I am not really fond of. I do get looks, but do not wear the kilt to attract attention, but only for the freedom and comfort which are unsurpassed. I suppose if I lived in India I would probably be wearing a lungi for the same reasons. Also, I don't get to wear my nice kilts hardly at all because there are so few special events.

How did we Americans get so locked into trousers??

    Attached are a couple photos....
