    And not just Highland Dress! Note the check tweed jackets and caps worn with Tattersall or check shirts
    Patterned tweed and patterned shirts worn together are standard country attire throughout the UK and Scotland would be no exception, so it follows that subtle patterned shirts, such as tattersall, gingham check and bengal stripes are happily worn with the kilt.

    My 13yo tells me that you shouldn't mix them generally, but the exception I believe is when it's 'countryfied' as above. Kilt and other mixed patterns will go together for that look.
