Kilted indeed on this Friday. I hope to have another tartan kilt in the future, but for today, it's my one tartan kilt, the Irish National Casual Kilt from USA Kilts. I recently purchased their sporran hangers and they work beautifully, are far easier to deal with than the belt/chains, and keep the sporran at a good height.

Not yet... but in a few hours, I will be. The community choir in which I sing has our dress rehearsal for tomorrow evening's concert, and since we usually have our dress rehearsals on Friday evenings, another kilted tenor and I have begun the tradition of the kilted dress rehearsal. Usually it is just the two of us, but last December another member who had joined us for our performance of Messiah donned his kilt for that dress rehearsal. Tonight I shall be on my own as the other fellow will be coming straight from work and may not have a chance to change. Photo will follow, if I can get someone to snap it!

A rare outing for my budget Isle of Skye PV this Friday. Had it for sometime, but only recently got the alterations finished by a professional as I ran out of patience and talent!
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Recent sign-on to Xmarks... and to wearing kilts when the opportunity presents itself. I have a couple traditional wool tartans, but tend to wear the utility kilts more than the tartans since there's no need for a sporran or belt bag.
A couple friends joined us for our Finally a Friday celebration at our regular hang-out and decided to take a group photo for the benefit of some friends who couldn't make it over. Let's just say the gals were enjoying the kilt. The misses is on my left.
Enjoying the banter and learning quite a bit from surfing the archives. Great resource and fun thread.

I attended our Veterans Day ceremony this morning and ran into some old pals I haven't seen in a long time. It was very nice, with a hangar full of folks from all over the county. Here, my friend Chris and I stand in front of an MH-60T Jayhawk painted in a special Coast Guard aviation centennial paint scheme. Several aircraft were given "retro" painting when they left our overhaul facility to celebrate 100 years of USCG aviation. This aircraft flew in from CGAS Astoria, Oregon.

My Robertson Red tartan USA Kilt 5 yarder gets a work out this time of year with the holidays. It is so festive.
This Friday, I volunteered to be a bell ringer for Salvation Army red kettle at a local big box store. So I kittled up in the Robertson Red. Let me tell you the kilted bell ringer was a real hit with the folks. Lots of nice compliments and requests from the ladies to have their photo taken with me. Ho, Ho ,Ho!

Today I went to a luncheon amongst friends at the Mt. Vernon Inn and wore my kilt in '42nd Band & Musicians' tartan. Very festive with all the red and green. Most of the patrons were too cool to say anything, but I got some nice compliments from a few people - and especially from my friends, which felt good. Sorry, no photo available.

While I am usually kilted, seems Friday is a mostly at-home day, so no kilts. Friday past, however, I ventured out to
join some friends who are the house band for a local Presbyterian church, providing a bluegrass service every Sunday
morning. Each Christmas the church has a live Nativity on the lawn (although they no longer have camels), and the band hosts a jam in the fellowship hall to liven up the cookies, coffee and hot chocolate. It being a Presbyterian church, I wore my USA clergy semi traditional, mustard hose with Lovat green garter ties, and a Celtic wheel cross tee from Jen Delyth's Celtic Art Studio. As I sipped my hot chocolate, I heard a firm Scots voice saying, "I'm quite sairtin you wouldn't be wearin' a kilt here if you weren't at least partly Scots, and I see you've at least done it up right.". I assured her that while I am not a Scot, I was assembled here using many Scots parts. She was visiting from Aberdeen, and inquired extensively to confirm the Scots lines. When she asked about the tartan, she was a bit astonished to hear the history, having been unaware there was such. A few minutes later, a gentleman in a Royal Stewart ball cap, of all things, joined me to tell me his degree pursuit included a few semesters at the University of Edinburgh, during which he resided in Musselburgh. A nice evening, and I got to sing and play Christmas carols.
