Well, it's not my first Laph 18, but it's not as peaty as I thought it would be. It has a nice caramelly flavor that is just perfect! I'm having a small dram now in hopes of getting a nap this afternoon. Tonight, my wife and I have tickets to see/hear "Faust", which will keep us up late. I don't want to nod off and miss anything.

I never met a Scotch I didn't like, however, tonight it's a nice warm snifter of Drambuie.
Obviously, no one understands the level of insanity I operate at.

liquors
I don't often drink a licquor but when I did I enjoyed a Glen Turret whisky licquor....sadly when that distillery was taken over by "the big boys" it was discontinued
Good on you and your snifter of Dranbuie......if I had read this post later in the day my stomach would be wondering if my throat had been slit and if it wasn't when was my evening libation coming on

Our Greensboro Scottish Country Dance Society annual St. Andrew's Day Ball was last night, and at the afters party, I had a wee bit of Highland Park 12 and Dewars 12.

I am still on hiatus from my beloved Ardbeg 10 Year Old--which, as I have previously stated, is simply and sadly not what it once was --and so in addition to buying several fine bottles of Bonded Bourbon at 100 proof (or higher, e.g. Old Grand Dad 114, which I highly recommended, if you can find it) I recently burrowed deep into my sporran and came home with Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength. Wow! Sea! Salt! Vanilla! And of course enough Fire to satisfy Satan, but alas, not nearly enough Smoke and Phenols for this Peat Freak. Still, I do not regret one bit the US$60.00 plus VAT I paid for this one, and it made me conclude that barley whisky really is what I love most, so now I think I will venture into another of my long-time realms of interest and mystery: Japanese Pure Malts.

You might find Talisker 57' North worth a try.
