I would go with a tweed, since it is for a wedding, and you are the father of the bride, I would suggest a charcoal tweed. Unlike the "country tweeds" they are a little dressier, I believe, and will fit more closely with the other gentlemen if they are in suits. The PC is a very formal jacket, if you go by orders of dress, and the Black Barathea Silver Buttoned Argyll is the equivalent of morning dress. from a strictly economical point of view, I purchased a BBSBA several years ago, and it mostly hangs in the closet. My tweed jacket, however, gets regular wear.
Whatever you decide, congratulations to you and your wife for raising a wonderful young woman; and to her on her engagement.
