Actually...No. The two videos I watched, both were wearing kilts... that was my POINT! Like I said, one was being filmed at Edinburgh Castle.

Just received this bonnet and not sure the type it is. No ball on top and comes way down the side of your head when wearing. Any insight I greatly appreciate it.

There are some bonnets like this being sold that are apparently inspired by those seen in the Outlander TV series:

One would not necessarily consider how the kilt and assorted attire is worn in Edinburgh by some as the best example to follow!

Bonnets such as that may be had from Historical Caps. Berets of the larger diameter from South Pacific Berets also make passable bonnets.

Flat caps are terrific in cold weather. I also like the historical "blue" bonnet or variations thereof, but I worry it might look a bit "costumey". In general, I don't worry about what people think, but I don't relish attention in spite of the fact that the kilt does indeed draw attention. But then, I think the Balmoral bonnet might be a bit more over-the-top for everyday wear than a historical Scots bonnet. For now, I am sticking to my flat caps.
