That's actually a super-easy fix, and I can talk you through how to do it, if you want to Skype. PM me, and we can deal with it. No sense sending the kilt back for that.

At the risk of skating on the borderline of a different topic, I have shown here photographs of my MacKinlay Modern "Alba 5 yard" kilt from kilts4less, which was subcontracted to Glenisla. They are in Greenock and have an MOD contract, so it is likely to be the same manufacturer. I think that issues with kilts4less/tartan4less relate mostly to ex-hire kilts from what I can see. The workmanship could be described as neat, but basic, bare-bones in fact. But the sett is aligned in the pleats and it seems sturdy enough.
It's one of my everyday work kilts. I also have one in plain black.

Not sure what your question is???
This is not how I would put a lining into the pleats of a kilt, but that there's more than one way to do it.

Oh, it wasn't a question. Steve asked the original gentleman if he would expand on the maker of the kilt. So having bought a factory-made kilt from Greenock with an MOD contract, I was guessing his would be the same manufacturer, so I was trying to be helpful by providing more in-depth photos of Glenisla's kilts, since they are in Greenock and make kilts for MOD. That was all.

This company may or may not have a Govt. contract but this is not an MOD kilt. I have a current Royal Regt. kilt. It is a machine sewn kilt but still has the internal construction elements that this lacks.
The kilt in these photos is not a traditional kilt by any means. It is about the lowest common denominator I have seen and still be made of wool.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

It sure is bare-bones.
Actually Steve, I think you may be right there. I took literally the line on their website:
"A quality product tried and tested by the MOD that's fit for the purpose"
to mean that they make them for defence, but that line could just as easily mean that they claim to meet a standard, or that it fits one purpose (like school cadets) and not another, or that the company at one stage made them for defence, but I should not have drawn the conclusion that this company currently makes kilts for regimental use, at least not from that line of text at any rate.

In any case, at least my first self-made kilt won't be like that, once everything arrives

Advertising is a very interesting profession.
If you change just one or two words the entire message changes.
The words "tried and tested by the MOD" does not say if the product passed the test or not.

Thanks for your input and images! I think we have found the manufacturer as my 8 Yard is made in the same way with no stablizers or any other sort of support for the pleats just as you show a small black piece of cloth. I dont have the "Glenisla" tag but the other tags match up as does the construction and the story of MOD contracts etc.
