Forgive me if I stifle a yawn. We have heard and seen it all before, too many times, to get remotely excited. I might also add that a conglomeration of tweeds and tartans has never caught on and frankly, thank goodness!

The kilt, or kilt fashion? Methinks the latter if the article is to be believed, and the MacKenzie design site. It is the kilt fashion - or likely more properly said, tartan fashion - provoked by a currently popular television series that will fade as the next new thing grabs collective attention. Anecdotally, the local Scots shop here reports that Outlander hasn't made a difference at all. Business continues as it has with a steady number of highland dance and traditional styles customers.

I am not at all sure that the Outlander TV series is shown here in the UK. I can't say that I have even seen it advertised. Perhaps I have just missed it? I can also say that the books are hardly the topic of conversation here either.
The majority of young ladies that I see here in the UK want little to do with tartan or tweed, even the fashion conscious and more affluent ones. It is something that I have noticed since the 1950's.

Ah...that explains why kilts are so expensive...we're paying by the pound.
