I don't wear my black leather kilt often, but when I do it's usually in cold or at least cooler weather, and I opt for a Don't-Mess-With-Me/Black-On-Black look: black casual shirt, or black sweater/jumper (a turtle neck or heavy weight cable-knit fishing sweater, commando sweater, etc.), black kilt hose, chunky black shoes with a thick and/or aggressive lugged tread pattern sole, and big, masculine chromed and/or polished nickel/steel accessories including a big shiny kilt buckle, and of course a serious skian dhu and a Go-To-Hell sporran, e.g. one with a full mask if you have it, or in my case a skunk sporran with the full tail AND a pearl-handle skinning knife with built-in sheath attached. It's a leather kilt--you can go for a rustic/shooting party look if it's a weekend in the country with your favorite gun dog if that's where you'll be, but otherwise: You Gotta Rock It, sort of like this:
