Jacket Sizing
So a few years I bought one of the USA Kilt tweed jacket/vest combinations. It was a nice jacket and I really liked the tweed. The problem I ran into was that I took their advice and ordered a size up (44 instead of a 42), and the resulting jacket was just way too big. I'm thinking about buying another one from them (it's between them and Kinloch at this point), but I'm a little confused about the sizing.
Has anyone had an issue with ordering their actual size?

I am sorry the jacket didn't fit as well as you would have liked. For the most part the jacket sizing TENDS to run a bit snug, plus we as Americans (the majority of our customers are in the US) like to wear clothes a little roomier than our British counterparts. That is why we tell people to go a size up. In the Low end of the scale, the sizing gets a little more "true to size", but usually 40 and below.
I'd offer this suggestion: If the 44 is a touch too big, then you may be better off with a 42. If you're swimming in it, then perhaps a 40 would be a better fit. If you take your chest measurement and get 39" or 40", then I'd go with a 40. If you get 41" or 42", then I'd go 42.
The above suggestions are assuming your waist (belly) measurement is a minimum 4" LESS than your chest size.
If you're still nervous about sizing, you can happily order a size 42 in an Argyll Jacket / vest and we'll ship it to you to try on. This way, you can test the size, then return it and order the Tweed with confidence.

Hi Rocky -
Thanks very much for the response. I'm definitely more inclined to go through USA Kilts again knowing that your customer service is on point (and I'm a big fan of the lapels on the waistcoats)! I'm not sure if I was skinnier than I thought when I got the last jacket/waistcoat or just prefer a slimmer cut.
