    Sporran Sling

    Hi Group,
I have discovered an alternate way to hang my
sporran and just wondered if anyone else has tried
it? I got the idea for a sporran sling from sporrans.com (Craigies Sporrans). It works really well if you have a touch of a tummy and suffer from the dreaded sporran chain creep under the tummy. Most unsightly. Basically, it's just a sling to hang the sporran from the belt instead of using the chain or leather sporran belt. Presto! No more chain pooching up under the belly making your kilt look funny. I made my own by cutting up an old belt. I used leatherworkers hammer together rivets to make loops out of the old belt. I put metal rings through (first) and attached my (modified) clips from my existing chain belt ends. You just take out most of the middle links to suit how low you want the sporran to hang and thread your belt through and pass the small length of chain and attachers through the back of the sporran. It works like a charm and hangs nice without any pooching. I can't post any pictures at present sorry but have a look at the Craigie website for ideas. Anyway, just thought I'd pass on a tip that has worked great for me. A sweater pulled down over the whole affair looks really good but it looks just fine showing too.
    Yours aye,
    Muddy

PS.....here's a couple links to see what I'm talking
about. I couldn't see paying for something I could rig up myself fairly easily but of course it would be
simpler to just buy it if you want. A good leather shop can show you how though and sell you the rivets and rings and stuff.

I had a thread about this a couple of days ago in the accessories forum. Mine should be arriving by post in a day or two. I have a terrible problem with pooching and hope that this looks better with my prominent belly.
