    But it's that bit of cardboard in them that keep them from being really well shaped. I removed the cardboard and the flash from the front and shaped one very nicely to my head, whereas the one I have for military duty doesn't look as good.

    My original black beret had leather as a backing so once you soaked it to shape, it moulded quite nicely. Newer ones have a synthetic backing that bends good as well.

    of course pipers in Black Watch wear plain glengarry with other orders of dress, thanks.
