Kilts are cool. Who knew?

USA Kilts 5 yarder, in Ulster weathered for me today. In entering the bank I was greeted by a teller with welcome to XYZ, how are you? I replied a little chilly and she replied, attired as you are you would be. I smiled as I set myself up for that one. No, I said it's keeping warmer than I would be without it.

A couple of comments of approval at the office. The sweater got a few kudos too. Someone will refer to it as Irish, but I inform them it is not an Aryan sweater being made in England of Scottish wool.

For today’s Kilted Friday, I wore my Newsome single box pleat in St. Patrick’s tartan. Normally, I dress in a matchy matchy monochrome look with this tartan, but today I contrasted it to “get that pop” that Steve Ashton seeks in his kilt wearing.

Yesterday, I had one of the Directors share with me that a new resident mentioned to him, he saw the manager wearing a skirt the other day. He laughed and told him it was a kilt. I laughed and said you just should have told him, yep he wears one every Friday!

Who else kilted up, today?

The usual Friday attire, with open shirt and jumper.

Had to make a delivery, and whilst on the street a couple of compliments and one "you're brave!" from three ladies all bundled up. Its -20C today

I usually wear a kilt to work at least once a week. Today, I wore a new, wool, double breasted waistcoat for the first time and my wife snapped this pic before I bundled up and headed off.

For today’s Kilted Friday I went out of kilt rotation to wear my Newsome single box pleat in XMTS tartan. The reason in doing so, as today is the 5th anniversary of this thread!

Kilted Fridays after 5 years is a routine for me and those who I encounter on a regular basis. For me not to be kilted on Friday would be indeed, shocking! I have a number of kilts so it is worthwhile to wear them more than the few celebrated times one would kilt up. I have found them to be an excellent referral to our local Scottish Society. People see me kilted and share their Scottish ancestry to me and I inform them of our Scottish Society and they get involved. I hope this thread also encourages others to kilt up especially the newbies in our Rabble.

Anyone else kilted, today?

I haven't been at it for 5 years, but if I wasn't in a kilt on Friday the staff around the building might begin wondering what was going on. Today I'm in the new AB with a simple jumper, the usual level of casualness.

I'm not one for pictures, but I tried a lean-your-smartphone-on-something-and-set-on-timer pic

This Friday for work, I wore my Ross Hunting Muted kilt with a nice and warm merino wool sweater. No jacket required.

In all likelihood, the tartan is the Alberta tartan (AB is short for the Alberta province in Canada, and our friend identifies his location as Edmonton).

And, StevenG, do you come from the New England area of northern New South Wales in Australia, or from somewhere else?
