    I have both, but I prefer utility kilts. I wear a kilt as a substitute for pants or shorts, so I don't really get all dressed up. I usually wear hiking boots with tall socks. I always feels a bit awkward when I first put it on, but it only takes a short time to feel completely comfortable.

    Not sure why you consider it odd. Scottish Highlanders (the ones I've heard from) do not approve of Americans wearing kilts. So being less Highlander and more American makes sense to me.

    My first kilt is in the 'district' California tartan. Are you aware USA Kilts has a Florida tartan?

    Okay, it is not an 'official' state tartan, but it looks pretty good and is based on the State Seal of Florida.
