Campbell of Argyll Modern - need Help on opinion "Plete to Stripe" (gold) or to sett?

I have to make a decision in 12 hours. We want to have our Kilt maker pleat our Campbell Of Argyll wool Kilts to the gold stripe. He is good with it but we are second guessing our plan because we don't know what that will look like. We thought we would find photos on the net but after looking at thousands of images Noooo, that's not happening.
I know it will have primary colors in background with a gold/yellow vertical stripe and white horizontal lines.
So... it that Tartan too busy or will it appear too yellow?
Has anyone seen this and have a opinion your willing to share? I am a newbie but I am over 50 years old and don't have a clue. It is for a wedding, 8 yards, 16 oz. custom. We know to sett is easer and 98% more common, that's probably why we are going this way...
    Thanks in Advance!

May I suggest you contact your kiltmaker and ask them to do a sample pleating both ways and send you photos. Any good, reputable maker will do this as a normal part of customer satisfaction.

Hello Steve, thanks for you suggestion. I am kind of amazed anyone noticed and replyed so quickly! Thanks for this forum and allowing me to be a part of it so quickly. I have learned so much from these pages. I am the Groom and we decided to do a Scottish wedding kind of at the last minute. When I tossed out the idea to the Campbell Family they all jumped on it! As it turns out, we all wanted to get Kilted for years yet it never came up in conversation at our gatherings - who knew? Now, apparently I am organizing 12 men in Kilts in 6 weeks. I have learned a lot here on your server!! 🥃🥃

The Kiltmaker is in Scotland however, he emailed already (on his own) and said he will pit it up and send a photo tonight. I hope I like it, I know I don't want white stripe(s) but I was starting to second guess the yellow idea. Not one of us has ever had a Kilt before....

I mocked something up for you

I mocked up the tartan from an online image. Assuming I got the scale right, here is what it might look like.

Pleated to the gold stripe, the black vertical stripes indicate where the pleat would end

Pleated to the white stripe, black stripes like above
    Pleated toWhite Stripe.jpg

Pleated to the gold stripe and to the white stripe, no black stripes, narrower pleats of course

Pleasing to the alternating Y and W would look very smart IMO.

Have you considered the guidance of your chief concerning this particular tartan?

I was pondering that very point as I was reading through the thread. I had an idea that the Chief had very strong views on the subject!

Belonging to a clan that has no chief I am envious of those who have a chief as definitive as Argyll in his views on the clan tartans.

New Buchanan tartans show up every year, some are so far removed from the original as to be unrecognizable.

If I were a Campbell I would wear exactly as instructed.

This is my first Rodeo so I was having trouble visualizing
The pattern. The pleats will be about 1" apart. This is more of a challenge than I thought it was going to be!

Thank-you for this valuable information.....sometimes people forget that tradition in regards to tartans should supersede the innovations of the masses......in my opinion
