I'd agree with Jocks dates plus:
    21 October 1805, Trafalgar day
29 May 1940, the day My grandfather got out of Dunkirk,
2nd September 1945, VJ day, when one of my uncles was able to stop fighting in Burma.

There were a few people at the Battlefield yesterday who thought the date worth remembering. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater

This has been noted with amusement on this side of the pond. Especially during the lectures on the lack of accuracy in the minds of
those in the USA. Though somewhere between often and usually a valid point, the correction is often with information equally mythological.
Or maybe fake news and false facts have been leaking into the pond a lot longer than we've been noticing. I think Jock's finger firmly
placed on the "Hollywood" () sign has probably a great deal of relevance and substance.

I, for one, am glad to have this explanation for this curiosity, as I have always thought the schools superior there. Here, movies, Cliff's Notes,
and Classic Comics are much in the mix, as well.
