I was intrigued by the name Buchanan County and wondered if there was a Scottish connection here?
Jimmy , there are hundreds ( possibly thousands ) of town , city and county names here in the U.S. that have Scottish connections .
During the first 150 yrs of the American Colonies / USA , the majority of the people were either subjects of the British Crown or descendants of people from the British Isles ... England , Scotland , Wales , Ireland and Northern Ireland and they tended to name places in a way that was familiar to them .
Just a side note , Donald Trump's mother was actually from Scotland , her maiden name was Mary Anne MacLeod .
