Colour hose choice help

Hi all,
New to this, I have been reading the forum for about two weeks and had me thinking this looks pretty good, plenty of knowledgeable folk on here, I've been wearing kilts for some years but need a bit of help on what colour hose to go with a red Macgregor modern kilt, what I'm thinking of is bottle green leg and the cuff the same as the kilt. They will be worn mostly with formal dress as I already have solid ecru', bottle green, and black for day and less formal wear. I'll appreciate any advice thank you

I'm sitting here wearing Sinclair modern which is similar in that it's red when you see it from afar. The hose I'm wearing are a Loden green, with red self-tie garters. It's one of my favourite combinations.

I'd say Father Bill has some good advice there, I also think you should go over to the 1 kilt 10 looks thread, I was wearing the Royal Stewart there are several hose colours that work with a red based tartan.

Hi McMurdo.
I've just had a quick look at the site you stated,the colours of the green solid leg and the Argyll is certainly what I was thinking of instead of Argyll use the MacGregor red tartan,plus the solid red flashes like the look of them one more question Murdo are leg bottle green. Thanks for advice and chat.

Hi McMurdo.
I've just had a quick look at the 1to 10 site the photo number 4, of the green leg and Argyll cuff is certainly what I was thinking of but changing the Argyll for the MacGregor red tartan, plus solid red flashes instead of tartan let the kilt do the work, plus one more question are the legs bottle or tartan green. Yes they are Bottle Green with Argyll tops, they were purchased from House of Cheviot a few years ago. Here is a link that might help

Hi Steve.
Thank you for the advice on the hose, well all I can say is hose ordered with Henderson Highland Hose, thanks McMurdo. I've decided to go for the tartan green leg MacGregor red modern cuff, price around £50, can't wait the now, hopefully I'll post a photo of them when they turn up, just shows how the forum works. I've been wearing kilts for a good many years but open to advice, taught by my father as he served with THE BLACK WATCH RHR in 1940/50s just hope he approves from the great highlands above. Once again thanks for the advice from everyone
