The day Glasgow Green and Loch Lomond went Tartan

Last Sunday ( 30th April) several thousand kilt walkers left Glasgow Green heading the 26 miles to Loch Lomond on the first of this year's Kiltwalks. They were joined at the half way stage by a few thousand more giving a final total of 7200 walkers completing the walk to Loch Lomond.
Many charities throughout Scotland benefit from the Kiltwalks that have been in place since 2011.
This year after the four walks have been completed it is expected that over one million pounds will be raised for charities.
Tom Farmer, the entrepreneur , who stepped in last year to organise and improve the walks has guaranteed to add ten per cent to all funds raised.
Incidentally Tom Farmer is the chap who is organising and bringing Barrack Obama to Scotland later this year
Next Kiltwalks is Aberdeen on June 4 followed by Dundee July 20 and then the final walk in Edinburgh on September 17
Anyway at present my blisters are getting less sore after last Sunday's enjoyable walk

Yes indeed, the Kiltwalk always raises lots of money for good causes. I took part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk in 2007 and again in 2008.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Thanks for adding pics, first one is Tom Hunter whom i mentioned earlier.
There's loads of pics soon on the kiltwalk website
The walk finishes at the town of Balloch on the south shores of the Loch, a little tourist town that always does a brisk trade throughout the tourist season but its biggest day has got to be the Kiltwalk when not only thousands of walkers end up there but also there friends and relatives waiting to greet them over the finish line.
A tented village is erected on the Moss o' Balloch with various outlets as well as the music tent, a great day for all

It never ceases to amaze me how generous people are with their time, energy and money at events like this. Well done everyone who took part in whatever capacity needed to make the day a success. Bravo!
