I'd like to hear from you....about tartan

I will agree that lightening up and celebrating a love of tartan is a great thing. I also think mixing tartans is not, there are so many old sores and old scores that the kilt wearer, especially one outwith Scotland may not know about so in general mixing tartans is frowned upon. You can get away with it if it's done properly. I do wear the Burns Check with the Scottish Wildcat tartan but these are not Clan tartans so it easier to do. I would say even then it's a move that should be avoided if you are new to this game but with time comes knowledge.

I never said anything was horrible and I never said you shouldn't post. I get that you're enthusiastic about tartan and kilts. Everyone here is. But, you're definitely coming on awfully strong and I suspect ruffling a few feathers. When you're new somewhere, in meatspace or online, it's generally a good idea to play it cool while you get the lay of the land. I suspect you'll find plenty of members on your side of the aisle, just chill a bit while we all get to know each other.

It's not what you're saying, it's how your saying it. You come across like a brash 8 year old who's had too many E numbers, is overly aggressive/defensive and opinionated. As for running to Steve and reporting you, this isn't a playground, in general we sort out our minor disagreements.

The old timers either age or forum related have done and seen a lot more than you have and therefore have mellowed with age and experience - I have seen some "not to my taste" outfits presented here, but I keep my proverbial mouth shut or offer some minor adjustment advice, try it.

By nature I am a very aggressive opinionated git, due to being a southern Scot with 22 years military service under his belt, but even I have been reasonable and measured in my replies on here. A little consideration and manners costs nothing but could win you some friends, the other option is to go find a forum where you will be appreciated, it really is up to you.

Your brownie allusion escapes me, but I agree with the rest. Do you actually agree with yourself? Or do you really mean to say one reprehensible thing is fine, but it's terrible to dispute that reprehensible thing!

I saw no reprehensible things to which you responded. When a minor point of dispute was broached by one poster, you falsely appealed to authority (priestcraft indicates no knowledge at all about sartorial history), while denigrating that commenter's father. When he objected to your behavior forthrightly, you declared he wasn't worth talking to. You accused a commenter of starting a whisper campaign for publicly recommending another of your threads.

I'm a new guy myself and even I know that's not cricket. As for the brownie jokes, when you aren't hostile, petty, and defensive, you wax poetical in a way humorously associated with marijuana ingestion. Marijuana is commonly ingested in baked chocolate breadstuffs commonly called brownies in America.

So yeah, I believe everything I said, and more which cannot be explored without breaking several rules. But I don't expect you to acknowledge you might have gotten off on the wrong foot. Of course all these different people are persecuting you!
