Wool weight?
Hello
I was curious how is wool tartan weighed. Is it 16oz per yard? 16oz per meter? 16oz per sqaure tartan repeat? If it's by the yard/meter is that square yardage/meters or linear? Does it apply to double width or single width? Please inform me. It will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

As I recall, it's the weight of one yard, double-width.

So if I weigh my fabric and divide it by the number of yards that should tell me the weight, right?

a linear yard of 54" width
Yes, if it is 54" wide. Round to the nearest number.
If your cloth is single width (29") then you take your result and multiply by 1.78
If your cloth is any other width, there is a wee bit more math involved

I think my wool is somewhere between 54-56 so that should get me pretty close.
