BBC Scotland Docu about the Hector , the Highland Clearances, and Nova Scotia !
Available on BBC I Player from this morning, Neil Oliver presents the story of the Ship Hector and the voyage from Loch Broom to Nova Scotia in 1773. Anyone in the UK should be able to view it. Gives a taste of the hard life that Scottish people from the Clearances were subjected to and just how tough they must have been. My home province.

Saw this on a facebook post last evening. A descendant of Hector passengers, I'm quite eager to see it.

I was brought up in Pictou County near Glencoe and Glengarry and spent much of my childhood around New Glasgow and Pictou. It was great to see these places mentioned in the show.

Thanks for that, it was worth watching, hard to believe that people from that era could live past 100 considering the environment they were exposed to.

It was also good to see the Native Micmac's get a mention. In those days I think it was mostly one extreme or the other- you either died youngish, or lived to 100 !
