62nd Annual Grandfather Mountain Highland Games - XMarkers Meet & Greet
Almost time. 90 degrees today in East Tennessee. Heat, humidity, rain, fog, shine, never know what Grandfather will grace us with.
Falling on the Holiday week has made accommodations worth more but I do have the whole week off and a sweet house rented. Heading up Wednesday for the traditional lunch at Freiburgs in Johnson City, then to the N.C. hills. Whiskey tasting Thursday afternoon in Banner Elk, fishing on Friday, and the games on Saturday.
Xmarks meetup at high noon on Saturday. Tartan Museum tent or at least the tradional location of it...don't know if they are attending. Drams, dandelions, and Hamish poses to follow.

I wish you the best of times there.
I'm jealous.
My mom used to live in Elizabethton (near Johnson City) and I would visit her and do a side-trip to the Grandfather Mountain Games in the summer. Great Games, but odd in having no alcohol. (Our West Virginia Games in Bridgeport are like that too.)
Maybe one year I'll go. My mom is back in West Virginia now so it would be a much longer drive.
Have fun!
EDIT: I looked it up, 4 hours 30 minutes from Hurricane WV to Grandfather Mountain. That ain't bad! I need to do it.

My sweetie, @carolinanan117, and I will host the Clan Sinclair tent again this year. If you attend the Games, stop by for a visit and a wee dram.

Our meals for the Games are coming together. Berkshire cold-smoked pork chops slated for Friday evening. Reserved Tuna steaks at Earth-Fare in J.C. to pick up on the way for Wednesday evening. And of course, Highland Park 12 year to see it all down.

Great photo!
(And I'm glad to see that RSCDS necktie getting worn! It sat in the closet for far too many years.)
