I kept the M. It and my waist have found a mutually agreeable fit that has the 'pocket pucker' nearly gone. I've been wearing it practically every evening, and now during a deck re-build project. Seems to me to be considerably more comfortable stepping around and over joists and the like. I think I am also being kinder to my knees since there isn't the false hope that a jean leg will protect them. $ well spent.
