I haven't done a walk-a-thon (good luck, by the way), but I've run and curled (which involves quite a lot of fast walking), and my guess is that for walking, the SportKilt ones will be fine, but my guess is the athletic socks like UnderArmour would be more comfortable. Just my $0.02, but to answer your question, as a one off for a walk-a-thon, they should work fine. I'd be curious about how you feel they hold up after the event as well, just as another data point.

Unless they've upgraded recently SportKilt sox are athletic sox. You'll find a wide selection in the soccer section of a large sporting goods store. Probably less expensive with same quality too.

If any of the high schools in the Charlotte area have school colors that include kelly green, find a sporting goods store near that high school and you'll probably find some.

I stopped by Sport Kilt today and decided to buy a pair of their black basic "kilt hose" to evaluate them. They are basically a high quality athletic sock. The foot is very cushy and comfortable. The fit is tight on the calf. I would recommend them if you want an athletic, casual option and don't have large calves.

In contrast, I was wearing my new Lewis kilt hose from House of Cheviot in tartan red. The owner really liked them. Anyway, they are definitely in a different category.
