What happened to my flashes?

Are they supposed to do this?

If not what is the best way to fix them?

Flashers? Did you mean flashes, the bit of flash that's exposed below the fold-down of your hose and is supposed of simulate the peak-a-boo ends of tied garters, but doesn't? Looks like a mess of melted glue, to me. Ah, optical illusion

they are unraveling on the ends that are in the "V" shape, I wore them a couple of weeks ago for a weekend and did not notice them looking like this but when I took them off last night they looked like this

I'd recommend re-pressing them, then carefully trimming off the fray and treating the new edge with a bit of Fray Check or something similar.

I recommend getting appropriate width cloth ‘ribbon’ in the colours of your choice and fashioning a few sets of your own

Thanks Taskr, I do have some red ribbon ones but I really do like my matching tartan ones
