I grew up in England, half English and half Irish.
I always fancied a kilt and even asked my Mother at one point, although she didn't take me up on the suggestion.
When I was older and employed, I took a train to Edinburgh in 1986 (age 24) and bought myself one (Modern Gordon). I still have it but it had to be remade because it became six inches too small while in the wardrobe.
