I'll be participating in our local Veteran's Day parade this year, and I'm planning on ordering a Leatherneck tartan kilt, with hose and garter ties to match. Here's my question: Should I go with green hose with khaki ties (service uniform), or blue with scarlet ties (dress uniform)? Thanks and Semper Fi!
I will often wear my USMC Dress Blue Tartan kilt with Khaki shirt and hose. I do not wear Tartan flashes.

Very nice, Steve. I was milling about smartly on the interwebs earlier, and came across your Dress Blue tartan, and I rather like it. I belive I may be contacting you to commission a kilt in that tartan, once my discretionary funds allow, provided you are amenable to it.
I believe I have one kilt's worth of the Dress Blue Tartan fabric left. It has been really popular.
I like the khaki shirt...my favorite knockabout kilt is my USMC digi tratan (ancient and weathered because it is worn out..) and I frequently wear it with a long sleeve khaki shirt....it is totaly casual, neuveau slob...so it gets black socks and boots... That looks great!
Steve, I like the Dress Blue tartan - hadn't seen that one before. When I want to display my affiliation with the Corps, I wear a box-pleat USMC Leatherneck tartan kilt, generally with khaki hose & red flashes and a USMC striped tie I got from Bolognese years ago.
The story behind the design of the Dress Blue Tartan can be found here - http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=74580

Oh, and if I had any doubt about whether the tartan had anything to do with the Marine Corps, that little K-Bar in your hose top would wipe away any doubt. I've got a K-Bar letter opener about that size...hmmm S/F, Orvis
