Here’s the very first photo of my new MacKenzie Ancient 13oz Strathmore eight-yard kilt from Wm. Glen and Son of San Francisco. I ordered it on October 3 when we were in California visiting our grandson.

I could not be happier — the fit and finish are perfect, the speed could hardly be beat, and having a personal fitting took all of the guesswork out of getting it right the first time. Basic black belt and sporran are also from Wm. Glen.

The lovat blue hose (pictured) and the green hose are just right with the kilt. They are from the Tartan Patch in Irvine, where I was on a business trip during the “waiting period” when KAAD (kilt accessory acquisition disorder) is at its most dangerous. I’m still waiting for the lovat green tweed Argyll jacket and vest I ordered from the Tartan Patch.

The first official outing will likely be Sunday, November 26, when I’ve invited my congregation, the Church of the Holy Apostles on the Oneida Indian Reservation, to anticipate the feast of St. Andrew, the first-called of the Apostles. Since I’ll be wearing my traditional dress, I’ve invited parishioners to wear their traditional regalia.

More photos to come, I’m sure!
