Put it behind or beside the sporan then so the handle sticks up and can be got at.

Thanx for the suggestion Damion, but I very seldom wear a Sgian Dubh when I'm kited, I suppose some might think it is a must..... but I'm alright without it This one has a great sentimental value as my ol' Da' use to cut the Sunday Roast with it when it was a full size carving knife

Ah, I thought you were lamenting that it was difficult to put in your sock and you wanted to carry it. Not wearing it is the better option then.
