Jack, forgive an ignorant Brit, is this the Leatherneck?

    Joe

Not sure, but I would assume it is as that is what us Jarheads are called.

Coming to the party late again. Since you asked for just one: Even though my Greatgrandmother was a Gordon I grew up with examples of Anderson tartan in the house. Since that is my last name, that is what I use as my "main" tartan. Besides, I like the somewhat unusual color. I've never been accused of being a conformist.

My first (and best) kilt is Ancient Davidson, but not Tulloch. Not often I find another Davidson of any variant.

My mothers family claims McGregor and McAlpin, My wife (who is a native of Ayrshire) is a Marshall (sept of Keith). I much prefer her beautiful dark blue and dark green tartan to the somewhat gaudy McGregor, but wear handmade kilts in both patterns.

My father's family are McNeills from County Tyrone. That name is a sept of The MacNeil of Barra clan, so that was the tartan I chose for my first kilt. MY mother's maiden name was Gordon, so that will probably be the tartan for my next kilt purchase.
