Sounds similar. Being a couple of miles from the HQ's of Google, Apple, LinkedIn, Facebook (& the rest of the lot), has made our area silly expensive. Well, what makes it worse is being a non-techie. Hopefully, I can find solace while on the forum.

Ta. Haven't made it, yet, to the UK, but I know where you are. Had a supplier in Wolverhampton. Specifically, Automotive Components, better known as Compomotive Wheels. Wulfrum Road Industrial Estate, Wolverhampton.....my apologies, don't remember the post code.
Yes, my wife can hold her ground with most all. Only if she is correct, otherwise she is silent, pleasant. Like the fairy tales, if you wake the sleeping dragon, beware.

As with the others, "Thank you". Might meet you someday. My ex employers, the best in my life, live in Hemet. Been trying to track them down for a visit this year.

Well met Steve. You might consider having the "Goddess of your home" look into converting a Saxon (modern cut) jacket into a kilt style to get used to the process. This will do two things. She will get an idea of how the jacket will look with a kilt and sporran. The cost of finding a thrift store coat that can be converted (cheaply and quick) would give her confidence, you a quick jacket and may prompt her to make a better product for you later.

But, I dare not suggest anything to another man's mate. That is your job. Glad to have you aboard.

"She" has considered that possibility. It happens that my Mom, gave her a large flip lid tub full of many yards of cloth. Some is a bit light for a jacket, but it can be sacrificial with no worry. That put, we have some clothes for donation to the local Thrift Shop, tomorrow. Might be worth a quick walk through.
I agree with you, to not consider suggesting anything to another's mate. When I suggest anything about sewing, I do it with great trepidation. She hasn't really forgiven me for injuring one of her sewing machines.
    Cheers!
