    The Hillwalker Kilt

Some years ago I purchased a 'Hillwalker' kilt for hiking which is now totally worn out. It was a very well made garment and well ahead of its time.
It seems to have vanished from the scene.
Does anyone know if it is still available?[/img]

Alexis Malcom offers a hillwalker kilt.
I think it is basicly a 5yard kilt but it may be what you are interested in. http://www.alexismalcolmkilts.bigste...generic24.html

Hector Russell are making them-in latest brochure.

As you say they are superb for casual wear and what they were intended for.

Isn't a hillwalker made a tad shorter so damp fabric isn't smacking the back of the knees? I think I read that someplace.

    Hillwalker kilt

Hi Bubba, leading question: what did you do to that kilt to wear it out? I know by now where pants wear out but where does a kilt wear out? I am amazed, how long did it take you to wear out that kilt?
Anyway, it surprises me that a guy with your talent and experience would even think about buying a kilt! Couldn't you just make one which is around 1" shorter? - Longforgan

Hi Miah,- that moving picture with your messages is cute but very distracting. That woman must be in pretty bad shape by now, falling down that hole so many times!- Longforgan

That was Kilted Kit that bought and wore out a kilt, not me

    Hillwalker Kilt

Thanks Miah + James for the tips. I have checked out both suggestions and it looks like the Hector Russell is the current version of the one I want to replace.
15 years ago it was made by a bloke in Wester Ross-great quality cloth + detailing and if those standards have been maintained I thoroughly recommend it.
