I've been wearing flat-caps for ages. I have a couple from Hannah, that I dearly love (one worn to tatters). I think they look good with the kilt, which I guess is fine for me. I'm American, not Scottish nor Irish. I wear the kilt because I like it, I wear the hat because I like it. I wear them together because I like them together. I sometimes get compliments on the two in the same sentence. Unless you're in some setting with a strict dress code, or hold to such yourself, wear what you like.

...that way I will be able to recognize you at the festival. If the balmoral I ordered doesn't work out I will also be wearing a flat cap. Unless it's hot weather, in that case I plan to wear my pith helmet to show my English heritage and keep my head cool at the same time.

Lmao, thanks for the pictures... they're so pretty!

The pith helmet was worn by Scottish, Welsh, Irish and English when needed.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that. I hope that style is OK, I like it because its more compact and has a squared back that shades the neck nicely.

I’ve worn a Wolsey style sun helmet in Yuma, Arizona in September and it did a pretty good job. It has a larger brim than that style.

The Wolsey looks nice and more effective than mine but I already have this one, and it does work great when I'm mowing. According to a review its supposed to be the 1895 Omdurman style. After Jock commented I found some interesting pics, looks very similar to mine so am very pleased.

Sorry TALL TN Scot, I didn't mean to hijack your thread!
It is a very interesting thread however and I thank you for starting it.

Headwear is to keep the sun and rain off your head.

Mix it up. Dress for the weather.

Or choose your headwear for the occasion. Such as meeting another X Marker.

Fist picture of you seated; what's that you're holding? An inquiring mind wants to know.

That question begs another. When will you be offering footless hose from your machine?
