I've found that boot socks make good willie warmers. It's easy too to pull them up over the testicles in really icey conditions. - Alan

You can but thin, very soft, self adhesive felt discs for putting under ceramic and wood crafts, so they don't scratch nice furniture. They can be found at craft stores.

How about using some fleece or fake fur and some "spray glue" (make sure it's SAFE FOR FABRIC... should say on the bottle) to make a soft landing for the fire helmet. You might actually enjoy it a bit TOO much.

It gets even more complicated for the UK Workman's...the "modesty" snaps can't be covered..they need to be functional. Just cool the knees and low thighs though. Don't think I'll ever actually use them, so guess I could cover them up.

Taking them out would probably leave holes and they do add something to the metallic look of the workman's.

You could go to a Home Improvement store (I know Home Depot has them) and buy a few snaps... put one together (WITHOUT going through any cloth) and put the little fuzzy furniture thing Bear spoke of on the back and snap it into the "open half" that is on the kilt. Repeat with the other half for the other side.
