I'd add to this that a bit further up north, the Inverewe gardens are absolutely worth a visit. The Mackenzie family has constructed a wonderfully sheltered place on the banks of Loch Ewe. It is now managed by the National Trust. Inverewe House in the gardens also has a fascinating look at the family history. If you're ever there, don't miss it!

    Very nice!

I am curious, as a Yank, to what decorations HRH is wearing on his jacket lapel.

Peter , beautiful pics and thanks for sharing the link .

Out of curiosity , a couple of questions .

What is the tartan Prince Charles is wearing ? I remember reading something about it a while back and that he had it specially woven ( if part of my memory serves me correctly ) , however , I just don't remember the name of the tartan .

Secondly , do you happen to know what clan crest he is wearing as a kilt pin ? ( or perhaps it's not a clan crest , just curious )

    Thanks , Mike

The tartan was A special run of Prince Charles Edward complete with herringbone selvedge Mark. The kilt pin is the Royal Arms (if that is the correct term) used by the Balmoral Highlanders and other on the Royal estate at one time.
