    positive reactions

I notice that there have been numerous mentions on our site of the public's reactions to us kiltwearers, many of them negative. Well, why not have this thread devoted to positive and hopefully fun reactions which we have experienced? It could be ongoing as things happen and you know, this thread has the potential to be kind of semi-permanent if you will! It can last indefinitely! In my very short experience with the kilt, here are a couple to kick it off: When I walked into the video store a woman on seeing me immediately come forward saying, "it's the man with the kilt again". (apparently she had seen me earlier in another part of town.) She was a slim, middle-aged and very attractive female. Coming up to me she said: " you just look so cool in that kilt, I just love it!" All this whilst her husband stood by just smiling. After that she asked me all kind of questions about the kilt. It was a marvellous encounter.
Then another day I was making my way home on foot from the grocery store with a couple of sacks. Nearing my apartment which is adjacent to a school, suddenly this chubby little girl (about 9 years old I would guess) comes tearing round the corner on her bike. The moment she saw me she brightened up. " Yeah, a kilt! Right on!" And then when she drew level with me she said: " Nice kilt!" It was just perfect and yet could never have been rehearsed. It really brightened up my day and I still chuckle at the thought of it. - Alan

Had someone in Wal-Mart tell me I was their hero because I wore a kilt all the time.

I was walking along a riverbank and met a woman who said I had "sexy legs" and gave me a hug, she was nearly 75, but it was still nice (yes, my wife was there too)

I have never had a negative reaction to my kilt. I've worn it around town, into the office, even to a formal dinner at an English Manor house.

I have had numerous women approach me to compliment me on it, and guys that express curiosity ("what's the occasion?")

I think the board would crush under its own weight if I posted all of the positive comments made. The negative ones are the ones that I'd like to be better prepared for. The positive ones are the easy ones to "handle".

Print up some business cards that say:

Thank you for your unsolicited opinion.

    Similar experiences here.

The closest to a negative experience is a woman saying "nice skirt" or "Aren't you cold?"

And I was asked by a guy leaving a bar, "What's the occasion?"

Those I can handle. Besides, I think the woman wanted to get me out of my "skirt"

    Now .....Off!
As I've said before, if we can't take a bit of negativity from idiots, as well as uninformed comments from incredulous onlookers - then we should stick to wearing trousers and not attract any attention at all!!

Broad shoulders go well with kilts backsides.

I wore my kilt to church last night.

Was good. All good. I believe the pastor was impressed that I showed up looking the way I did.

And I think I have found a place for fellowship that's not; racist, hateful, spiteful, money driven, and just plain evil.

I would say more, but it would get this post edited, as per the rules. So I must respect these forums and end this on this note.
