Finished Sir Walter Scott's The Abbot a while back. Moved on to The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries by W. Y. Evans-Wentz (1911). Some anecdotal stories of Fairies/elves/brownies, etc. in what the author termed the "Celtic countries" of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Manx, Cornwall and Brittany.

Finished that up & just started Border Raids and Reivers by Robert Borland. Only in by a couple of chapters, but has some interesting stories about the Borders of Scotland and England and why they were the way they were in the 15th-18th centuries.

I have a copy of Borland, printed in 1898 and illustrated by Tom Scott. It's probably time to read it again.

Wow. Most of the 'books' I'm reading lately are either e-book format or PDF created by Project Gutenberg and are in the public domain. I got them for free from various sources. No illustrations embedded, maybe a copy of the original cover art if it's an e-book, but usually just a generic cover if there is one. It's been a while since I've read an actual book, though I have a few hundred. I'll get back to (re-)reading them once I get through some more of the e-books.

About half way through Simon Elliott's Septimius Severus in Scotland. Really interesting narrative with a lot of concise overviews of the Roman military, governance, and economic system of the time.

I'm currently reading "Team of Rivals", which is the Story of Abraham Lincoln's cabinet during the Civil War. I am also listening to two audiobooks: The Generals; Patton, McArthur, Marshall, and The Winning of World War II and, The Generals: American Military Command from World War II to Today by Thomas Ricks, not to mention various Podcast
