Reaction to you Wearing a Kilt
What I am specifically wondering is if any of you have shown up for a date wearing a kilt and had the young lady react negatively to your kilt? Just for the record, I'm single, so it is a matter of importance for someone in my circumstances.

Negative Kilt Date
I can see two thoughts on the subject. Since the wearing of the kilt is not all that common, a little battlefield preparation prior to springing the kilt on your date might be a good idea. Then again you might just have discovered a good reason to look elsewhere for a date.
All depends I reckon on exactly how the date expressed the reaction.

In the dim and distant past, oh yes! I learnt pretty quickly not to wear the kilt on the first date------if I wasn't wearing the kilt at the time when asking for the date-------- and made sure that there was not a negative reaction to kilts, before the kilt was let loose.

I would not wear one as a surprise on a first date, although when I have not worn one, disappointment has been expressed.

The first date is your time to sell your self somewhat if the person knows nothing about you. The more normal you seem to be the better when you first get to know someone. There's really no normal and everyone has their eccentricities that do come out but scaring a date away before they have a chance to better know you gets you nowhere. Now if they've known you for a while and know that you wear kilts regularly or from time to time you might want to ask a mutual friend if they're ever had a negative view and jump from there.

Being single for 30 years and kilted for a bunch of them I've found kilts embolden single ladies...they approach me and ask all sorts of questions, including "the" question. A great ice breaker. Have been at conferences where ladies I'd yet to meet passed me suggestive notes.
Perhaps its because they've read those romance novels with kilted gents on the cover of the book.
One lovely lady, some years ago, when it was time to advance our relationship said forcefully, "Leave the kilt on."
Just isn't anything at all negative about kilts for single men. IF....a lady was put off by my being kilted I'd not have any interest in her anyway.

Now Jock gives what seems like a pretty wise piece of advice, but now, I'm torn; Jock give sage advice, but "Kilt up and sally forth" is what my natural inclination would be. Having said that, the past has shown me that my natural inclinations have run more than a couple of women away. Decisions decisions.....
