New sporrans -- hunting and dress

It took about a year, but I have narrowed it down to the two sporrans that I think will serve me best.

On the left is a hunting sporran and dark brown leather strap from L&M Highland, which I purchased from J. Higgins a few weeks ago, during a business trip to Kansas City. I really like the look of a hunting sporran with my tweed kilt jacket.

On the right is a grey bovine dress sporran which looks handsome not only with my formal black Argyll jacket and waistcoat but also with my lovat green tweed jacket and waistcoat for dressier "day" occasions. This was about $35 on eBay -- probably not made in Scotland, as there's no stamping on the back, but simple and elegant.

I have many occasions to wear the kilt each year, many of which involve just feeling like it, and many of which are black- or white-tie events. I expect I'll get good use out of these new sporrans.

Very nice, the hunting sporran is a classic, I too bought one of the eBay sporrans and yes you are probably correct in your assumptions.

I upgraded my dress sporran with a lovely 1980s sealskin from eBay for a good price, shame you are not allowed to do the same because of "restrictions". I wouldn't have bought sealskin new, for personal reasons, but I don't have a problem with 2nd hand because it is better than it being binned.

Beautiful sporrans. I only have a black fur full-dress sporran.

    Here is mine

Those look great, and should do you well for years my first dress sporran was a hunting style with a chrome. I gave it away a short time later after I upgraded to a sealskin sporran. My first day wear sporran was my Dad's old brown leather one.

    Sporrans

I have four sporrans but the one I wear almost daily is home made leather belt bag with two pockets. Very handy.

Both good selections. I have three that rotate for all the events I attend. None are as nice as your two.

There is always time to upgrade.
